Reminder: EANM Event Calendar Over the past years, the EANM Event Calendar has become the online site where to find a comprehensive overview of the events in the field of Nuclear Medicine. This calendar is regularly updated and also lists conferences, symposia, congresses and educational sessions beyond the scope of the EANM. As you have probably noticed, event announcements in the EANM Newsletter are limited to events organised by the EANM. Therefore, we would like to remind you of visiting the EANM Event Calendar in order to find a comprehensive list of events in the field Nuclear Medicine.
An additional EANM website feature also provides organisers of a nuclear medicine related event with the opportunity to add this event to the EANM Event Calendar via a simple online input-mask. In order to prevent misuse, the submitted announcements will be forwarded to the EANM Executive Secretariat and are released if they are ok.
The second website feature of the EANM Event Calendar offers the opportunity to request "EANM Auspices” for events. This feature aims at fostering quality events in the field of nuclear medicine. The EANM Auspices form is ready for download together with information explaining in detail the background of this new initiative. read more

We would like to remind you that the deadline for applications
for the next European Board of Nuclear Medicine Fellowship Examination is May
10, 2005. The exam will take place during the next EANM Congress in Istanbul.
The European Board Certificate in Nuclear Medicine proves that
the candidate's knowledge and ability in Nuclear Medicine satisfy European standards.
Although this European quality recognition is currently not mandatory, it can
contribute to professional promotion.
This year, for first time, there will be a “Preparation
session” for all those who are considering taking the exam this year,
but this will also be open for people who intend to sit the exam in the future.
The aim of this session is not to teach basic sciences or clinical Nuclear Medicine,
but to make candidates feel more confident about the format and content of the
exam. The session will be free of charge and will take place on October 16th,
2005 in the morning time. It will be given by a professor previously involved
in exam preparation and marking, who will explain how to interpret multiple
choice questions and how best to describe clinical case studies.
You can download all relevant documents from the EANM website
http://www.eanm.org <UEMS/EBNM> <Fellowship> and <Fellowship
Preparation Session>.

ECNC and European Exam in Nuclear Cardiology
The European Council of Nuclear Cardiology (ECNC) has recently
been established to improve professional structure in Nuclear Cardiology in
Europe and to stimulate growth of the field.
ECNC is a council of 12 experienced European physicians active in the field
of Nuclear Cardiology. The European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) and
the Working Group on Nuclear Cardiology of the European Society of Cardiology
(ESC WG5) are equally represented by 6 delegates. The council is co-chaired
by representatives of both mother societies. Current co-chairmen are Gianmario
Sambuceti, MD (ESC) and Alberto Cuocolo, MD (EANM). Further delegates are Drs.
Jeroen Bax, Frank Bengel, Angelika Bischof-Delaloye, Ignasi Carrio, Birger Hesse,
Juhani Knuuti, Dominique Le Guludec, Heinz Sochor, Richard Underwood and Ioannis
Vassiliadis.
Quality assurance and certification in Nuclear Cardiology in
Europe are major goals of ECNC. To achieve this goal, establishment of a high-quality
Nuclear Cardiology exam in Europe has been identified as a primary task. For
this purpose, cooperation with the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology,
which annually produces and conducts a professional Nuclear Cardiology exam
in the USA, has been established.
The European Council of Nuclear Cardiology (ECNC), a joint council
of EANM and ESC nuclear cardiologists, is pleased to announce that arrangements
have been made with the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology (CBNC) in
the USA to hold their exam in Europe simultaneously with their exam to be held
in Rosemont, Illinois, USA on October 24, 2004!
Mark your calendar now to join leaders in the field and participate
in this exam, which sets a new benchmark of quality! Successful participation
will formally recognize your skills in Nuclear Cardiology. The venue of the
exam will soon be announced. It will be held at a city centrally located in
Europe. The exam will be identical to that of the US exam. Eligibility criteria
are 1.) medical licensure, 2.) board certification in Nuclear Medicine, Radiology,
Internal Medicine, Cardiology or another speciality in a European country, and
3.) sufficient training in Nuclear Cardiology (equivalent to the COCATS2 criteria).
Further general information on the exam can be obtained at www.cbnc.org.
To obtain specific information on the European exam, please contact Mrs. Dawn
Edgerton (cbnc.edgerton@comcast.net). We are looking forward to your participation
in this event, which is an important step for European Nuclear Cardiology.

First discussion forum for Paediatrics
The EANM is pleased to announce that a first discussion forum
- for Paediatrics - has been launched on the EANM homepage www.eanm.org
The initiative for discussion forums comes from the EANM Task
Groups and Committees, which have requested that the EANM homepage should also
encourage discussions about certain topics pertaining to Nuclear Medicine. The
discussion forum on paediatric nuclear medicine is a first test to see how well
accepted such a plattform will be by EANM members and non-members and how it
is utilized. Pierre Olivier of the EANM Paediatric Committee is responsible
for moderating the discussion forum.
Depending on the popularity of the paediatric discussion forum,
other topics of Nuclear Medicine (as represented by the EANM Task Groups and
Committees) could also have own discussion forums in the future.
We hope that such a forum for discussion will be beneficial to
our members and we look forward to heavy utilization.
Should you have any suggestions or comments, please do not hesitate
to call or email.
